History

Red Eagle Skeet and Trap Club dates back to 1950 and was located on Merkle Mountain near Sylacauga at its inception.  Relocation to Childersburg was in June 1981.  Red Eagle offers six skeet fields, three trap fields, four covered picnic areas and one five stand.  The clubhouse includes a large kitchen, a new living room (referred to as the shooter's lounge), two indoor and two outdoor restrooms, central heat and air and a large covered porch/picnic area.  There are 18 RV spaces available with 30 and 50 amp outlets and ample parking.  Each field fence has a shelter on each side of the fence with extra gun racks and benches.

Over the years, Red Eagle has produced several outstanding shooters who have withstood the test of time and achieved extraordinary recognition.  Such shooters include: Miner Cliett, seven time All American, World Champion and International Champion (between the ages of 11 and 17); Tim Harry, Junior Olympics; Mack Finn, All American and a 4x100; and Bill Perry, All American, numerous state championships and very active in the industry.  Sub Juniors Will Davis and Myles Palmer, both All Americans, are on the rise in skeet and trap.  Will has won two Class Three Junior World Skeet Championships.  Miles and brother Matthew Palmer have won numerous awards.  There are several other members who are formidable shooters and have won several events at the state and regional levels.

Everyone is invited to join us at Red Eagle to participate or just to relax and observe some fine shooting!
