I'm searching for an old photo of the club from the 1950's to use here. I also plan to interview some of the founding members to gather much more of the history of the club. Please check this page often for updates |
Red Eagle Skeet and Trap Club dates back to 1950 and was located on Marble Mountain, near Sylacauga. The club was mainly used by the local Quail hunters to practice their wing shooting with some informal competitive shooting at times. The facilities were somewhat sparse in those days.
In 1981 the club moved to it's present location in Childersburg and after struggling through some lean years, has grown to it's present size. We now have six Skeet fields and three Trap fields, a large air-conditioned clubhouse with full kitchen, lounge area, and covered patio area. There are 20 RV sites with 30 and 50 amp outlets.
The club hosts several skeet shooting events: Alabama State Skeet shoot, the Heart of Dixie shoot, the Disabled Sportsman shoot, state 4-H shoot, and several local events. Beginning in February 2009 we will have a monthly ATA registered Trap shoot, shooting singles, doubles, and handicap targets. The Trap program will continue through November.
While we are a membership club, we invite the public to shoot as a guest, provided the club safety rules are followed. We are proud of our reputation as a family friendly club and invite everyone to join us in clay target sports shooting.
